Systems Engineer – Software/Electrical

We have a new opportunity for a Systems Engineer – Software/Electrical to lead the development and launch of new products that meet and exceed performance requirements to support our sales growth. This position will be located in Orlando, Florida with travel between our offices in Florida and Pennsylvania as required.

Essential Functions

  • Lead internal and external resources to develop and launch products that meet performance requirements, on the agreed project timeline, at the target product cost and within development budget.
  • Develop and implement robust methodologies for testing products during development and production, to ensure that all performance requirements are met or exceeded, including meeting regulatory and industry standards.
  • Work closely with customers, and particularly Beta customers, to capture their requirements input, and using understanding of feasibility, determine product specification priorities and incorporate into the product design.
  • Identify and implement improvements in design and production processes for new products, improving quality and reducing the cost of manufacturing; including working with customers and suppliers, as necessary.
  • Provide support for manufacturing and sales teams, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as applicable to the position or as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering – Software, Computer Science, Electrical
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in software programing, including embedded software programming
  • 2-3 years’ experience in customer support or sales roles
  • Experience with opto-mechanical systems, preferably scientific or analytical instruments
  • Spectroscopy experience a plus
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Electronic Technician

We are currently seeking an Electronic Technician for our office in Orlando, Florida who will be responsible for assembling mechanical and electrical products using a variety of tools and equipment according to required specifications in a manufacturing organization. Job Summary

  • Read, interpret and follow, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble equipment and products.
  • Wire, solder, and assemble fabricated components to make electrical and mechanical assemblies.
  • Fit, align, and adjust parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product operating specifications.
  • Rework and/or repair assembled equipment and products.
  • Meet established build time and quality standards.
  • Maintain inventory of product in work stations.
  • Follow all company Safety Policies and Quality Guidelines.
  • Identify product defects and complete appropriate documentation when defects are identified.

Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years mechanical and electrical assembly experience.
  • Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem and to think in such a way as to produce a new concept or idea.
  • Experience with Mini Factories and the Kanban system or willingness to learn.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Bonus Experience

  • Working knowledge of OrCAD PCB and electronic design software.
  • Spectroradiometry / spectroscopy / photonics-based instrumentation experience.
  • Experience working in a fast paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment.

VP of Finance & Accounting

We have a new opportunity for a VP of Finance & Accounting to partner with the CEO in providing strategic financial leadership that gives financial visibility to the company and enables profitable growth. This position oversees and owns all accounting and finance functions for the company, ensuring the completeness, existence and accuracy of all financial statements. It will partner with the CEO in providing strategic financial leadership that gives visibility to the company and enables profitable growth. The Controller will assist cross-functional partners with integrating sound financial practices into every part of the company and will oversee reporting and budgeting for both the Solar Light division (PA) and the Optronic Laboratories division (FL). This role will require periodic travel to production locations to collaborate with the manufacturing teams. Areas of direct responsibility include supervision and direction of the accounting/bookkeeping team, ownership and bookkeeping of more complicated accounts, monthly financial reporting, occasional ad hoc analyses and operational recommendations, project cost accounting, cash flow, and ownership of audit deliverables.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Detail preparation and/or review of monthly accounting entries and reconciliations, including strict adherence to a close calendar. Ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and existence of all accounts and figures.
  • Preparation of monthly financial reporting package for management and other stakeholders, including comparisons to budget and prior year and analysis/insights into anomalies.
  • Main point-person for all audit-related requests. Significant support for occasional due diligence requests.
  • Lead the annual budget process for both Divisions, including consolidation.
  • Evaluate the current structure of the Finance/Accounting department, including personnel and systems, and make recommendations for improvements as needed.
  • Mentor, guide, and develop the accounting team and other team members to optimize performance and ensure the department is staffed with high caliber, engaged talent.
  • Provide coaching and training to management and cross-functional partners on financial practices to ensure they have an optimal understanding of the business and their respective areas of fiscal authority. Manage-up to the CEO.

Qualifications and Competencies
Minimum degree and experience required:

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in accounting required.
  • CPA and public accounting experience required.
  • Must have an understanding of inventory accounting, how to manage reserves and cycle counting.
  • Ten years’ experience in progressive finance/accounting roles with a background in manufacturing and/or distribution companies preferred.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit coupled with exceptional leadership, analytical, partnering, team building, and communication skills.
  • Experience implementing new financial reporting systems, cash forecasting and standard cost models preferred.
