We have a new opportunity for an Application Scientist to work with our sales team to provide technical and application-specific support for Optronic Laboratories spectroradiometry products. Daily responsibilities include providing support for new and existing customers, applying fundamental scientific knowledge and perspectives toward product development, and working with a wide network of sales representatives to help formulate marketing strategies based on current market trends. This position will be in Orlando, Florida.

Solar Light Company, Inc., is in Glenside, Pennsylvania. Essential Functions

  • Provide technical and application-specific support for Optronic Laboratories products
  • Conduct technical presentations
  • Represent Optronic Laboratories at relevant tradeshows
  • Produce product and application-specific literature/media resources
  • Maintain expert level-knowledge of Optronic Laboratories product offerings
  • Be aware of current market trends in spectroradiometry
  • Provide pre- and post-sales account development support
  • Coordinate and execute product demonstrations
  • Install, QC instruments, and train customers
  • Contribute significantly to new product development
  • Educate sales representatives on new product applications

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Minimum MS degree (or equivalent) in spectroradiometry/spectroscopy/metrology related scientific field. A PhD would be a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in customer instrumentation/application support, or related instrumentation role
  • Experience performing spectroradiometric measurements is preferred
  • Experience solving complex scientific problems
  • Experience teaching/presenting scientific information to both technical and nontechnical audiences
  • Experience training individuals and groups to use scientific equipment
  • The ability to travel up to 25% overnight when required
  • Working knowledge of LabView, MatLAB, or other instrument control software is preferred

We are currently seeking an Electro-Mechanical Assembler for our office in Orlando, Florida who will be responsible for assembling mechanical and electrical products using a variety of tools and equipment according to required specifications in a manufacturing organization.   You’ll need to be a self-starter that is able to work independently and under direct supervision.  If you are a ‘do-what-it-takes’ type of person, who wants to make a difference in a fast-paced, small company environment, Optronic Laboratories may be just the place for you!

Job Summary

  • Read, interpret, and follow, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble equipment and products.
  • Wire, solder, and assemble fabricated components to make electrical and mechanical assemblies.
  • Surface mount and through-hole component pc board assembly; soldering skills required.
  • Assemble mechanical and optical components into sub-assemblies and completed systems.
  • Fit, align, and adjust parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product operating specifications.
  • Rework and/or repair assembled equipment and products.
  • Meet established build time and quality standards.
  • Maintain inventory of product in work stations.
  • Follow all company Safety Policies and Quality Guidelines.
  • Identify product defects and complete appropriate documentation when defects are identified.

Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years mechanical and electrical assembly experience.
  • 2+ years soldering experience, surface mount and through hole.
  • Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem and to think in such a way as to produce a new concept or idea.
  • Experience with Mini Factories and the Kanban system or willingness to learn.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Bonus Experience 

  • Familiar with ISO9001 and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Spectroradiometry / spectroscopy / photonics-based instrumentation experience.
  • Experience working in a fast paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment.
